Job Description

Alice Hyde Medical Center (AHMC) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hospitalist team on a per-diem basis. As a Per Diem Hospitalist APP, you’ll deliver safe, timely, compassionate care while working alongside experienced physicians and a collaborative clinical team. This role allows you to use your full clinical skill set while enjoying autonomy, teamwork, and the day-to-day variety that hospital medicine offers.

What You’ll Do

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients in coordination with Hospitalist physicians.
  • Respond to nursing staff calls and manage changes in patient condition.

  • Order and interpret labs, tests, and imaging.

  • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans.

  • Complete patient discharges, including summaries and follow-up plans.

  • Support patient flow in both the Emergency Department and inpatient units.


What You Bring

  • Licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

  • Experience in Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or acute care (preferred).

  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently.

  • Clear, compassionate communication skills.

  • Commitment to patient-centered care.

Education & Licensure

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree required.

  • Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in New York State (or have the ability to obtain licensure).

  • National certification from an approved certifying body is required:

Nurse Practitioners (NP):

  • Completion of a master’s, post-master’s, or doctoral NP program accredited by CCNE or ACEN.
  • Current national certification (such as ANCC, or equivalent).

Physician Assistants (PA):

  • Graduation from an ARC-PA–accredited PA program (or qualifying predecessor program).
  • Current NCCPA certification.


Compensation:

  • Compensation rate: $77.30- $96.81/hr.

  • Per diem employees receive an additional 15% on top of the applicable hourly rate.
