Summary

University of Vermont Health is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Division of Gynecologic Oncology (GynOnc) at the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMMC).

This full-time Advanced Practice Professional (APP) role supports a specialized surgical GynOnc service, caring for patients with both benign and malignant conditions within the academic medical center. Consistent with the values of UVM Health, the position supports community engagement efforts, clinical excellence, education, and research.

APPs are integrated members of the care team and participate in teaching, scholarly activity, and continuous improvement initiatives that advance the field of gynecologic oncology.

Clinical Scope

Patients requiring gynecologic surgical and medical oncology services.  This is a primarily outpatient position.

Schedule

  • This is a full-time 1.0 FTE exempt position scheduled to work primarily Monday – Friday during daytime outpatient hours.
  • Intermittent schedule adjustments to accommodate earlier start times for clinic needs may happen.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluates and manages new and established patients with complex gyn and oncological conditions and functions as an integrated member of our multidisciplinary team.

  • Manages the surgical and medical oncology/chemo treatment plan needs of gynecologic oncology patients across the full continuum of care.
  • Contributes meaningfully to patient experience, workflow innovation, operational efficiency, quality improvement, and the continued growth of the GynOnc program.
  • Incorporates the thoughtful use of emerging AI technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the electronic medical record and other clinical tools, supporting a modern, data-informed approach to patient care and workflow optimization.

Experience

  • 2 years clinical PA/NP experience with complex gynecology patients preferred; oncology and/or chemotherapy treatment experience desired.
  • New PA/NP graduates with substantial prior direct patient care in oncology and complex gynecology who demonstrate a dedicated interest or knowledge of gynecologic surgical oncology may be considered.

Education & Licensure

  • Master’s degree required; Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Current (or eligible) licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) from the VT State Board of Nursing or as a Physician Assistant (PA) from the VT State Board of Medical Practice.
